Color Outside The Lines

Hi everyone.  I'm here to share an altered sign with you today.

I saw this sign at Goodwill and knew it would be perfect for my craft room.
All it needed was the COLOR !!!!!
I was so excited to get to work on the idea I had for this, that I forgot to take a before picture.  oops!!!
Just know that all the lettering was white.  I just couldn't leave it that way. LOL

So I got out some of my stencils and used Tim Holtz Distress Paint
to make it COLORFUL!!!!

I loved COLORING OUTSIDE THE LINES!!!!
I think it turned out pretty cool.  Just like I imagined it would and that rarely happens. LOL!!!!
Hope this inspires you to alter something fun.  Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Crafting :)
Hugs,
Michele

You are treasured

It's Tuesday and it's me, DT Amy with my weekly 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store card creation. For today's mermaid I grabbed the second Kraftin' Kimmie mermaid that was released this year, Florence Finbottom. I really can't get enough of these big eyed beauties and the fun scenes that they find themselves in. Florence has just come across some sunken treasure and I've got to wonder what she will do with all that gold? She seems pretty excited about it... perhaps she has her eye on a fancy new top at the local coral clothier. For the rest of the card I used a wave border die cut at the top of the colored panel then added this bright seaweed print from the Under the Sea paper pad peeking out at the top. :)

Alrighty, well the June Challenge is in full swing and with all the new goodies Kelly has been bringing into the store that $20 gift certificate that is up for grabs could really help to fill a shopping cart! So get crafty and join the fun!

Under The Sea Watercolor Background Tutorial

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you are having an awesome weekend so far! It's Rosie here today sharing a tutorial on an under-the-sea watercolor background I made for a recent card on my blog.

I used these awesome metallic ink pans from Prima Marketing Metallic Accents. I LOVE these! The colors are so pretty and bright and versatile for so many different applications!

These are the gorgeous metallic colors in the set.

I start of with a wet paintbrush and add water along the bottom edge to make the coral or seaweed.

I used this pretty green. You have to add quite a bit of water to the pans and mix to activate the paint.

I then go over the wet lines of the design with the metallic watercolor and just freehand the parts that branch out.

I use a heat gun to speed up the drying process.

This is the metallic blue I used for the water.

I wet the paper first at the top and then add the blue to the wet areas so the color spreads easier.

You can see the pretty shimmer in this photo.

Here's another view. I would go over the green one more time just to darken it some more.

These metallic watercolors are also vibrant on dark cardstock! I use the paintbrush to do a little calligraphy to show you how awesome they really are on the black! I've got so many ideas for these fabulous ink pans.

Rosie

Nuvo Glitter Paste - Concord & 9th

Happy Hello!!! It's Mindy from Paper Creations by Mindy and I have a gorgeous card to share today.  I have been doing a little playing with the Nuvo glitter paste - it is so stunning in person! It's really hard to capture it on camera but I did my best.

I started off by stamping my flower from Concord & 9th stamp You Are Here. I colored it with my copics markers and cut it out with my Scan N Cut machine. This flower would look stunning in any color!

Next I started on my background. I adhered a striped stencil down to my cardstock with some painters tape so it doesn't slide out of place. Using a small spatula I started to spread a layer of the Nuvo Glitter paste onto my project. Once I was satisfied with the amount of glitter paste on my project, I removed the stencil and quickly washed off my spatula and stencil. Don't let it sit because the glitter  will stick to the stencil.

I let the background sit for a few hours (actually 5 hours by the time I was able to get back to it lol) ... and started to put my project together.  My base is 5" x 5" so I trimmed the stencil piece down to 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" so there was a little border of white. I love how this glitter paste looks on the dark cardstock. It's almost iridescent! In the picture above, you can actually see the blue. I stamped my sentiment on a small strip of white cardstock, lined everything up and adhered together.

Merry and Bright

Hi all. With Arizona being under an excessive Heat warning until Sunday, We're talking
close to 120 degrees!!!!! what's a gal to do?
Make Christmas cards of course!!!!!
While making this card I retreated to my air conditioned craft room,
turned the ceiling fan on HIGH and pretended to be in Santa's work shop LOL!!!

The sentiment I used came from   The doodle-greetings stamp set by Tim Holtz
I embossed the sentiment with black embossing powder.
For the Background I used Distress Oxide inks in

I felt a little cooler after making this Christmas card so I guess I'll be making more before the week's through LOL!!!!  anything to keep my mind off of the HEAT!!!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy crafting :)
Hugs,
Michele
